Poggio Le Coste is located in the province of Asti, in an area particularly suited to the
production of high-quality, world-renowned wines.
It is one of the largest single-holding estates in Piedmont, formerly owned by the
noble House of the Counts of Buneis. It is characterized by a splendid natural amphitheater of over
100 hectares that hosts the company's vineyards, between 250 and 350 meters above sea level.
The bond with the land and tradition is further strengthened by the desire to promote
the local native grape varieties, ambassadors of Piedmontese wine around the world.
SOIL TYPE
In the municipality of Asti, on the rolling hills of the Asti area: the soils have a
loamy-clayey texture, sub-alkaline, deep, and evolved on eluvial-colluvial deposits
covering the older formations attributable to the Lugagnano Clays and the Asti Sands.
VINIFICATION AND AGEING
After pressing and destemming the hand-harvested grapes, the traditional
red vinification takes place with a long period of maceration on the skins for 10 to 15 days.
Aging in tonneaux lasts approximately 12-14 months, and after bottling, the wine is left
to rest for another 9 months.
